We have all heard of endorphins and dopamine. But do we really appreciate these invisible healers?
Lets first talk about pain. Pain is actually a blessing in disguise. Pain warns us of a problem. A healthy normal reaction should be to assess our lifestyle. Are we eating right? Are we sleeping right? Are we getting enough exercise? Endorphins help reduce pain. A healthy way to trigger endorphins is to surround yourself with positive activity. Get up early. Take a walk. Eat an apple. Hang out with friends. Laugh! Learn something new. And of course read your bible! The bible is full of beautiful stories and promises from Jesus.
One scripture that jumped out at me made me realize that sometimes pain is a way God will get our attention. Remind us to pray. He longs for a relationship with us as do our own earthly parents.
2 Chronicles 16 v. 12.
Asa became diseased in his feet, and his malady was severe; yet in his disease he did not seek the LORD, but the physicians.
Seek the LORD. Pray.
Of course, seek physicians for your health. But understand the relationship God is seeking and we should desire.
